Story Notes[]
- This is the forty-ninth episode to be produced in the series, but is the fifty-second episode to be shown on television and is the twentieth episode for the second season.
- Fort Knox, the main storage facility for gold in the United States, is mentioned in the episode.
Timeline Notes and Speculations[]
- Dr. Lechay was apparently captured by the Germans during the fall of France in May of 1940 or shortly thereafter. She escaped her captors sometime in mid-1942 and hid out for over a year with the help of the French and German underground organizations. This information gives us a late 1943 date for this episode.
- The premise of this episode is a bit silly to anyone who knows their World War II history. Germany led the world in the development of synthetic fuels for a wide range of uses. The technique in question may be referring to revived interest in the hydrogenation process for producing ersatz gasoline and aviation fuel in mass quantities. If so, this would also support a late 1943 date.
Quotes[]
Bloopers[]
When Hogan and his team pull up to the laboratory there is snow on the ground, but the crickets are chirping up a storm -- indicating a warm temperature.
